Dr Francesca Mancini

Francesca Mancini is a tropical agronomist with 22 years’ experience in agriculture in Asia, Africa and now the Pacific, including over a decade of field life in rural India.

She has worked primarily for the UN system and collaborated with NGOs and sustainability standard initiatives aimed at enabling the practice of ecological agriculture. Her competencies include sustainable food and farming systems, conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity for food and agriculture, pesticide risk reduction and Integrated Pest Management (IPM). She has formulated and implemented regional and national programmes to deliver policy assistance, farmer participatory education and livelihood and gender equality outcomes.

She is a cotton specialist and has worked with smallholder farmers, organizations and commodity standards around the world to better understand the impact of Highly Hazardous Pesticides (HHP’s) on farmers (through self-health monitoring) and to phase out their use from crop production.

Her work at CPSP focuses on strengthening regional capacity and collaboration on identification, reporting, regulation, replacement, and monitoring of HHP’s in Southeast Asia.
