Gamini is an expert in chemical risk management with nearly 40 years of experience at both national and international level. He has managed programmes related to sound management of chemicals, focusing on pesticides and those listed under the Chemical Conventions such as DDT. He has also managed global projects monitoring the levels of Persistent Organic Pollutants in biotic and abiotic matrices across different regions, assisting countries to eliminate PCB, and has served in panels such as the FAO/WHO Panel of Experts on Pesticide Management.  He was the Registrar of Pesticides in Sri Lanka for nearly 15 years with over 25 years of experience in pesticide management in a developing country context.  Gamini is trained as an eco-toxicological chemist.
