To mark this year’s World Food Day on Wednesday 16 October, the Centre for Pesticide Suicide Prevention (CPSP) has released a new short animation focusing on chemical free farming practices in India.
For decades, farmers in India, like those in many other parts of the world, have relied heavily on chemical pesticides and fertilizers, believing them to be essential for crop growth and high yields. However, recent years have seen a growing shift towards sustainable agriculture, including the adoption of chemical free, natural farming practices.
The animation, titled What is Chemical-Free Farming?, offers an overview of this approach, highlighting its benefits, the transition process, and practical steps for farmers to adopt these practices effectively.
It aims to raise awareness of the advantages of moving away from chemical inputs and how it can improve the health of farmers, the soil, and the environment.
The animation is now available on the CPSP YouTube channel.

During her visit, she engaged with farmers who are transitioning away from chemical pesticides in favour of natural farming methods, offering a first-hand perspective on the positive impact of these practices.
