Summary of activity
As Sri Lanka’s former Registrar of Pesticides (2016-2025), Dr. Sumith was responsible for bans and restrictions on a number of highly hazardous pesticides.
He also played an important role in the listing of two pesticides under the Rotterdam Convention, helping to ensure that countries receive information about their dangers before deciding whether to import them.
