Bhawesh Jha is a public health professional. He has worked in mental health policy and implementation in India, with a special focus on rights based psychosocial interventions in the institutional settings of Bihar. His caregiving experiences made him a staunch ally of people with mental health conditions. He began advocating for integrating critical social sector services like livelihood, disability pension etc, into the mental health service delivery. He believes in the power of collaboration and cooperative values and strives to build cross-vertical synergies to bridge the research and practice gap.
Previously, he has worked with the National Tele Mental Health Programme (IIITB), Mariwala Health Initiative, National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) and ICMR. He is also a member of State Mental Health Authority, Government of Bihar. His areas of interests are suicide prevention, mental health systems strengthening, disability and law. Bhawesh holds a master’s degree in health administration from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai.
