Heshani is a visual storyteller who has worked for over 20 years as a documentary filmmaker. She first became interested in pesticide poisoning when she was living in Sri Lanka in early 2000s, when the suicide rate in Sri Lanka was one of the highest in the world. This prompted her to make a film on the issue in 2005, called ‘The Month of October‘. More recently, she has been working with the team at CPSP to tell stories around pesticide poisoning and sales. Whilst completing her master’s program in Film in Edinburgh, she now works with CPSP as a filmmaker to ensure that the Centre’s work is seen and can be related to a general audience.
