Carlson (Carl) Nkwain is a final year PhD candidate in Global Health with the Institute for Global Health and Development at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh (QMU). His research interest is in Health Systems Strengthening. He is the recipient of the prestigious Chevening Scholarship, the UK government’s award for outstanding scholars and emerging leaders, for his graduate study in Global Health. He is also the laureate of the Queen Margaret University PhD studentship, for individuals with outstanding academic records, for his PhD in Global Health. He has previously worked in a university environment at QMU, the London School of Economics and Political Sciences, and in a policy space at WHO EMRO and for the Bamenda District Health Services in Cameroon.
Carl joined CPSP in September 2022 to increase understanding of the harmful effects of pesticides and other chemicals on human health and the environment in Central and West Africa.
